Since coming to the court I've married dozens of women, but they always go home with somebody else-their groom. This is the most fun part of the job. Every wedding is different, made to order for the couple.
I did a cowboy wedding, one in a cow pasture on Vashon, one in the park in the rain, one at a Boy Scout camp, several in the Temple of Justice, and everywhere else.
Last year I was privileged, for example, to marry Owen Linch and his bride Marcia in Olympia. Owen is the government affairs representative for the Teamsters Union. This gave me the chance to meet many old friends and to hear Owen answer the question "Where are you going for your honeymoon?" by saying, "Our whole life will be a honeymoon." What a privilege to part of people's lives in this way! I'm a lucky guy too.
